Connecticut has been experiencing some insane cold lately. I’m talking temperatures in the teens, and below zero overnight. Honestly, it’s been tough getting out of bed, let alone my house. Getting to the gym has been the last thing on my mind. All I’ve been thinking of is hot cocoa.
But, I know how important it is to stay on track even in the winter. It’s easy for everyone to fall out of routine, so don’t beat yourself up if you’re still riding that holiday high! To help you out, I’ve gathered up some of my favorite resources for at-home workouts. I’ve used all of these myself when I simply can’t be bothered to leave my warm house and go to the gym, or even if I just want to cut down on time and squeeze in a quick workout. Enjoy!
My Favorite At-Home Workouts:
The free videos offered on this site are AMAZING. They vary in length, intensity, and style. They’ve got some yoga and stretching, tabata, pilates, all the good stuff. Before I started boxing, I used to watch PopSugar‘s kickboxing videos and do them every day in my dorm room! Most of the time, all you need for these workouts is a mat and a small set of weights.
What I love about this site, is that right off the bat, you get to refine your search. You can choose if you want a male or female trainer, how long of a workout, what kind of equipment you want, and more. Fitness Blender also offers full length, completely FREE workout videos, making this another awesome choice for an at-home sweat sesh.
Kayla Itsine’s BBG:
I’m sure you all have heard of Kayla Itsine’s super effective Bikini Body Guide. I first heard of this program a few years ago, when I asked a couple of girls in my high school how they got so fit. The answer? BBG. This 12 week program focuses on workouts that are only 28 minutes in length, but incredibly high intensity. BBG does require some equipment, but it’s easy to substitute when you’re at home. Benches can be substituted for chairs, and you can use the stairs in your home! This program does require a purchase, but check out the before and after pics before you decide. Some of these ladies made incredible transformations in 12 weeks! Check out her website here.
Yoga has an endless list of not only physical, but mental benefits as well. I love doing yoga at home because I can create my perfect, relaxing space. Using these guided videos from Do Yoga With Me, I’ve learned so many new poses and been working on different sequences!
Yep, surprise! You don’t always need an expensive reformer machine to do pilates. Pilates is one of my absolute favorite exercises, because it feels like a step up from yoga with a little more strength and core involved. I love challenging myself and seeing progress when I do this regularly! Now normally, I take a pilates class at my local gym. But, for at-home workouts, I watch youtube videos of different sequences! Eventually, once you learn some basics and some favorite moves, you can design your own little routine. Here’s a great video for beginners!
That’s it guys! These are definitely my top workouts for when I’m snowed in or just want to workout at home. Let me know which ones you try and how you like them!!
