Hello and Happy Monday my friends!
In the spirit of the holidays and Happiness Project Month 2, I took the trip upstate to Coventry, Connecticut see my mom, stepdad and stepsister this weekend! It was SO nice, especially since I didn’t get the chance to see them for Thanksgiving. My man and I arrived at their house in time for a lovely breakfast (complete with chocolate chip waffles – yum!). Then we all hopped in the truck and drove over to Hickory Ridge Tree Farm right down the road. This farm is much smaller than the ones I have near my hometown in the southern part of the state, but it certainly didn’t lack charm.
After deciding which kind of tree we wanted using their cute little “Trees on Tap” Guide, we took to walking around the farm. The grounds were quiet and quaint, which gave us some nice quality family time. My favorite Sperry Duck Boots kept my toes nice and warm!
Cutting down our christmas tree is probably my favorite holiday memory. My family always went to the same farm each year, and we took pictures of me and my brother on top of this same big boulder to see how much we’ve grown! I was so excited to bring my boyfriend along this year since he’d never cut down his own tree. His family always bought their trees. He loved helping us search for the perfect one for us!
Once we found the best tree for us, a modest little spruce, we headed back to the truck. As soon as we got home, my mom warmed up a pot of apple cider for us all to sip on while hanging ornaments! It was truly a wonderful and nostalgic afternoon with my family. Last year I wasn’t able to make it to the tree farm so I loved taking part in the tradition again.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend!
